Drydesign Case Study - Print
Fishamble presented a new script-in-hand production by Colin Murphy that mixed documentary and dramatisation in order to explore the events leading up the Irish bank guarantee in 2008. Drydesign were asked to create a series of posters, flyers and digital ads promoting this ground breaking play. The brief was to design and use an image that conveyed the high stakes risks involved in the banks strategy, then apply it to print and digital promotion of the play.
Fishamble’s ‘Guaranteed’ Creative Process
Stage 1: Concepts - With our lovely client Fishamble (Dublin based new play company) we have a tried and tested process. First my partner Vic reads the play and picks out key moments, lines of dialogue or physical items. We then brainstorm and come up with ideas that are presented to the client in sketch format to focus on the concept rather than any detail (like colour, fonts, layout, etc).
Stage 2: Design - The preferred concept is developed with the creation of imagery and typography components that included spotting and typographically picking out the word 'rant' within 'Guaranteed' (which the client loved).
Stage 3: Design development - The components are combined in a first draft of the poster using different headline fonts.
Stage 4: Artwork - Each venues details are added to the preferred option and after checking, artwork is supplied to the printer.
